Studies directed towards the total synthesis of Aigalomycin D

The aim of this thesis was an effort towards the total synthesis of Aigialomycin D with D-arabinoze as a starting material. The target was the completion of synthesis in 14 steps by Heck coupling and macrolactonization. The most important step, in which our effort terminated, was a cross metathesis.
