The influence of provoked body weight reduction in the parameters of bone metabolism in obese postmenopausal women: the role of leptin
Aim: In this study we aimed to investigate in detail the relationship be-tween BW and BMD in obese PMW, the skeletons of which are under the in-fluence of two significant factors: 1) The menopause which favours bone loss and 2) the obesity which exerts a protective effect on bone density. Farther-more with provocative reduction of BW we assessed the potential changes in bone markers related to bone metabolism. Apart from anthropometric parame-ters we investigated also the role of leptin, adiponectin and NPY which, acaccording to recent data, apart from their regulatory effect on homeostasis of energy it seems that they have a significant role on the bone density
