Aspects on Space and Polarization Diversity in Wireless Communication Systems

Karagiannidis, Georgios
Pejanović–Đurišić, Milica
Kapinas, Vasilios
Ilić, Maja

This is a synopsis of two of the most popular diversity techniques, Polarization Diversity (PD) and Space Diversity (SD), employed in modern communication systems in order to mitigate multipath fading. After outlining the basic principles of the two approaches, we provide representative samples from the literature concerning a hybrid Space-Polarization Diversity (SPD) technique, with particular application of a specific space-time block code (STBC).
