As economic integration in Europe progresses, trade patterns within the region are displaying an ever-greater complexity: Though inter-industry trade still accounts for the majority, its share in overall trade is declining. Instead, intra-industry trade (IIT) is growing in importance. This article analyses the nature of trade between Greece and EU countries for three agricultural products, tobacco, cotton and fruits-vegetables. It explains the changes of intra-industry trade (IIT) Greece’s foreign trade, between Greece and its major trading partners. The traditional Grubel-Lloyd index is complemented by a group of indicators measures, related to change in total exports and imports were used to exploit any changed trade dimension. The analysis has shown that the external trade of the three Greek agricultural products is not stable but shows a significant fluctuation from year to year. It is characterized as inter-industry trade for tobacco and intra-industry trade for the other products. Further more, there is an obvious tendency of the trade of these products to increase exports. Forces that shape the trade are mainly the availability of favourable productive factors in the production site of three products. The country produces these agricultural products, not only to satisfy the demand of interior consumption, but mainly to the satisfaction of exports.
