Creation of a system of monitoring, evaluation and management of urban greenery for the adaptation of cities in climatic change
Under this perception of sustainable management in urban areas the goal of the present project is to create in a holistic and consistent approach a pilot system for the governance and decision-making of urban forestry. The project involves the development of five phases including basic research activities and a preliminary technical feasibility study. After criteria and indicators were defined a tree inventory has been created in order to constitute a Strategic Plan with 20-year prospect. The mitigation of climate change impacts is a basic axis of the policies described in this plan, emphasizing in the moderation of extremely high temperature. In the core of the project is an application, named GreenTree, which compiled the tree inventory and included all the silvicultural characteristics. The sixth and last phase is the creation of a software for the urban green management and its interface with the municipality’s cartographic portal accompanied by the necessary training of the personnel.
