Στρατηγική θεραπευτικής αντιμετώπισης της επώδυνης διαβητικής νευροπάθειας
Treatment of painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is a major challenge and a difficult clinical problem to solve for the practicing physician. From the side of the patient is a chronic disabling complication with a significant impact on quality of life, activities of daily living and mood. About 13%- 26% of the diabetic population experience chronic pain. The management of painful DPN consists of excluding other causes of painful peripheral neuropathy, maximising diabetic control and using medications to alleviate pain. Current therapies for painful DPN include the selective serotonin and noradrenalin reuptake inhibitor duloxetine and the anticonvulsants pregabalin and gabapentin. Furthermore, many other drugs are under investigation and could be used in the management of neuropathic pain in future.
