Aim of this review was to describe the main methods, technologies and the corresponding most relevant devices, which are in use for continuous glucose monitoring with glucose sensors in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Furthermore, in this review continuous glucose monitoring has been discussed in terms of its purposes, accuracy, clinical indications, outcomes and problems. Conclusions of the review were that, despite some interesting and promising technologies and devices that are in use now, a satisfactory solution to the non-invasive glucose monitoring problem still requires further efforts.
