«Paleopolis» is a local name denoting the site of the ancient city of Corfu.After the administative centre of the island was transferred northwards duringthe Middle Ages, parts of Paleopolis became imperial estates («curatoria»)donated some time later to the local Orthodox Church.On the occasion of the publication of three documents (dated 1359, 1405and 1432) concerning Paleopolis, the author deals with the subject of ecclesiasticalestates in Corfu during the Late Middle Ages as well as with topographical andprosopographical issues of the local histoty.
