Information System Implementation-A case study in Healthcare Context in Greece Challenges and opportunities

Siskos, Emmanouil

Healthcare organizations spend significant amounts of money for the acquisition or develop-ment of information systems. The final implementation of these systems in hospital units to support the recording and documentation of daily nursing actions, has aroused intense concern in terms of the ability and the readiness of such organizations to adequately manage this tech-nology. However, there are no clear answers for the reasons that lead to the success or failure of a clinical system. This study focuses the case study of the information system used in the public Hospital of Ptolemaida called “Mpodosakeio”, in order to draw valuable conclusions not only for this specific hospital but also for the scientific community in general.
