This dissertation was written as part of the Master of Laws (LL.M) in Transnational and European Commercial Law, Mediation, Arbitration and Energy Law at the International Hellenic University. In general, the dissertation targets to examine the phenomenon of climate change, as well as the handicaps of the existing international law which do not permit a totally successful energy policy. The dissertation includes, primarily, an analysis of the indexes, the causes and the impacts of climate change. Subsequently, there is a description of the advantages and the disadvantages of conventional and non-conventional energy resources, as well as of renewable and non-renewable energy resources. Consequently, the main point at issue focuses on the legal framework which has been developed in terms of climate change and energy consumption. The outlook of this research targets to present the interaction of energy policy with climate change within the ambit of international law and searches for an implementation which would not put in danger the existence of environment and human being.
