The use of mobile health apps for medication adherence has proved to be efficient in improving the health welfare and habits of adult populations. However, most of the apps did not take into consideration that users are emotional beings and how to improve their results by implementing affective feedback techniques. We carried out a systematic review of all available for download mobile apps for Android, iOS and Windows platform. We investigated to which extent affective feedback is used. This dissertation presents how affective feedback techniques may influence medication adherence in adult populations. We developed an intervention which made use of emoticons, personalized messages and also embedded font - size adjustment. This intervention was tested by a group of volunteers. Results were encouraging, indicating that these attributes have the perspective to contribute to adherence. The developed paradigm has the potential to be expanded and become more complex for the needs of future research. (EN)
