The dissertation thesis discusses and explores the concept and the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with in the highly controversial field of the mining industry . It adopts a stakeholder approach , focusing on the investigation of the views of a specific stakeholder group a bout CSR , which is of catalytic importance for the mere survivability and prosperity of the mining industry , i.e. the local communities that reside next to mining projects . Hellas Gold SA , which owns a mining project located at the Skouries region of Chalkidiki in Greece , serves as a case - study. The study illuminates the evaluations and perceptions of the host community of Megali Panagia village regarding the quality and effectiveness of Hellas Gold SA ’s CSR program and provides useful insights on the to pic of company - community relations management.
