Reverse Engineering

Chatzipantelis, Socrates

This dissertation was written as part of the MSc in Strategic Product Design at the International Hellenic University. The dissertation is about the process of 3D scanning with two different software and the quality of results that is produced. A better understanding of the new technology on Reverse Engineering and Rapid Prototyping is presented at the beginning of the literature Review, along with all the possible application that this technique is used around the world. Meshlab and Next Engine scan studio HD were the two software that helped me train my knowledge in the field of 3D scanning. A step-‐by-‐step instruction on how to use them is also presented with photos of the objects on every one of them. On the last chapter there is the data analysis and the comparison between the different results and appearances of every object, which were scanned with different ways. For the creation of the several scannings, I would like to thank my supervisor Panagiotis Kiratsis and his team who helped me with the procedure. Special thanks to my family and friends who helped me and showed a lot of interest in my work and gave me courage to continue.
