Liquid flow non-idealities in bench scale hydrotreaters operating in cocurrent gas-liquid upflow mode are evaluated by using the axial dispersion model. Experiments on real conditions by using real feeds were carried out in the absence of reaction. The dependence of Peclet number on particle size and Bodenstein number on liquid velocity are discussed. An exponential decrease of Peclet with the ratio gas/liquid velocity is presented. The hold-up was determined 90±3% of the bed void volume. © 1992. (EN)
