CO2 laser treatment of zinc-coated copper (EN)

Panagopoulos, C (EN)
Michaelides, A (EN)

Zinc-coated copper specimens were irradiated with a continuous wave CO2 laser. The laser treatment of these specimens was found to create surface alloys between zinc and copper on the surface of copper substrate. The quantity and the distribution of zinc into the copper substrate and the intensity of the created plasma on the surface of the specimen during its laser irradiation were found to be a function of the laser-power intensity and the transverse speed of the laser beam. © 1993.
