Using the best available equations for the thermodynamic properties of H2O and the oblique shock wave relations which hold in general, the accurate solution for the oblique shock in real steam is obtained, for numerous stagnation states. The accurate results are approximated by explicit empirical relations which have mathematical forms similar to those of the ideal gas oblique shock, but with new coefficients and exponents such as to describe the real steam with a very good approximation. [1] The numerous values of these new parameters are illustrated in diagrams with respect to the stagnation temperature and the stagnation density as a parameter. © 1995 Springer-Verlag. (EN)
