LOOSE MULTI-WORD COMPOUNDS AND NOUN CONSTRUCTS (EN)

Koliopoulou, Maria; University of Patras

In this paper I deal with certain structures in Modern Greek, which are at the boundary between morphology and syntax. In particular, Ι examine the so-called loose multi-word compounds and noun constructs showing that they have a number of morphological and syntactic properties that differentiate them from both common noun phrases and typical one-word compounds. I argue that both constructions are kinds of phrasal compounds, and place them in a continuum, where there is no sharp distinction between morphology and syntax. (EN)
