Electromagnetic radiation (EM), is a kind of radiation that is transmitted to the material or the void in the form of light waves. An entire technological world, our world as we know it today, was based on the application of the electromagnetic radiation. There are two forms of electromagnetic radiation, ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation carry energy such as to penetrate the material and cause ionization of atoms. On the other hand, non ionizing is a low-frequency radiation and not capable to cause ionization but capable to cause electrical, chemical and thermal effects in the body. This study has been focused on the study of low frequency radiation. The term low frequency electric and magnetic fields (50-60 Hz) refer to one of the categories of non-ionizing radiation and describe the fields generated by the electricity transmission network, such as lines and high-voltage substations, the average network low voltage used for the distribution of electricity, electrical wiring and appliances used by all of us in our home activities and in our workplace. The aim of this study is to examine the biological effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation on humans. The study will focus on the cardiovascular changes, that non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation exposure can cause on short-term or on long-term. The determination of the possible effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation on heart rate, may lead to new ways to anticipate and impact management and by extension to take measures for the protection of particular population groups exposed to this kind of radiation.
