Η διδακτορική αυτή διατριβή υποστηρίχθηκε την 17-2-2005 στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του Α.Π.Θ. Βασίζεται σε έρευνα σε αρχεία της Χαλκιδικής, της Θεσσαλονίκης και της Αθήνας, καθώς και σε επιτόπια έρευνα σε όλους του προσφυγικούς οικισμούς της Χαλκιδικής. Μέσα από την έρευνα και τη μελέτη των εγγράφων και μαρτυριών προσφύγων ως στόχο είχα να καταδείξω τις προσφυγικές εγκαταστάσεις στη Χαλκιδική και τις ανακατατάξεις, δημογραφικές, οικονομικές και κοινωνικές, εξετάζοντας τα ακόλουθα: 1) το προσφυγικό ζήτημα και το θέμα της υποχρεωτικής ανταλλαγής πληθυσμών, 2) την κατάσταση της Χαλκιδικής πριν και μετά την άφιξη των προσφύγων, 3) τις προσφυγικές εγκαταστάσεις στα αγροκτήματα του Αγίου Όρους και τις σχέσεις προσφύγων-γηγενών. Το αποτέλεσμα αυτής της μελέτης είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντικό, γιατί δείχνει τη συνεισφορά προσφύγων και γηγενών στη διαμόρφωση της σύγχρονης Χαλκιδικής.
The doctoral thesis on "Refugee settlements in Chalkidiki in the first half of the 20th century" has been submitted at the Philosophical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It is based on research in archives of Chalkidiki, of Thessaloniki, of Athens and field-work in the refugee municipalities of Chalkidiki. Through this study i was able to indicate the refugee settlements in Chalkidiki and the rearrangements, demographic, economic, social, investigating the following topics: 1) the Refugee Question and the Compulsory exchange of populations, 2) Chalkidiki before and after of refugee arrivals, 3) the refugee settlement in the farms of Mount Athos and the relationships between the refugee and the native populations of Chalkidiki. The outcome of this study is important because it demonstrates that refugees and natives have contributed to make up the dual identity of modern Chalkidiki.
