The paper focuses on Heiner Müller's interpretation of the figure of the "angel" in his poem "Der glücklose Engel", which is compared to Walter Benjamin's interpretation of Paul Klee's "Angelus Novus". It follows a theoretical analysis and re-evaluation of the impact of Klee's painting on Walter Benjamin's work and subsequently on the dramas of Heiner Müller, who was significantly influenced by Benjamin's Thesen über den Begriff der Geschichte. In this study I retrace and register the main aesthetic and ideological implications of Benjamin's theory concerning the relationship between painting, philosophy and literature. (EN)
