The greekbulgarian relations during the Middlewar
This paper attends to examine the Greekbulgarian relations, during the Middlewar (1919-1939). In this specific period the relations between the two countries remained tense as they were the past few years. There are three main issues that caused problems between Greece and Bulgaria from 1919 to 1939. The first big issue is the territorial problem i.e. Bulgaria seeking the annexation of Western Thrace. The second issue is the minority problem i.e. Bulgaria demanding that Slavophones of Greece be recognised as Bulgarians. Related to this problem is the difference between Greece and Bulgaria which has to do with the financial reparations for the exchanged populations of the Treaty of Neilly and war reparations of Bulgaria. Having examined these issues the study ends with a short report of the course of the two countries during the Second World War.
