The priest and his family pastoral prospective

The clergy of the Orthodox Church are for the most part married, apart from those holding the position of bishop, where marriage is not allowed. It has been noted that the married priest often finds himself at odds between his parish and his family. His over devotion to his parish, the intense criticism which his family is under, the 'ascetic' lifestyle which family members are expected to lead, are problems which can probably cause an adverse reaction and tension for his wife, children and for the priest himself. This subject is examined in this short research study using a questionnaire taken out on priests families from the Church of Cyprus. The results are presented and analysed from the conclusions, solutions are offered and ways out of the above difficulties are given.
