Arsenic(ll1) and Arsenic(V) Removal from Solutions by Pyrite Fines

An investigation on the effective removal of arsenic anions existing in both main valency states, i.e., as As(ll1) and As(V). from dilute aqueous solutions by the addition of pyrite fine particles was conducted in the laboratory (bench-scale experiments). Pyrite constitutes an industrial by-productisolid waste in mixed sulfides processing plants. This paper examines an unconventional application of pyrite as an adsorbent of arsenic ions. The results were evaluated by electrokinetic studies and stability data.
