Στόχος του κειμένου είναι η απεικόνιση της ιστορικής αναδρομής και εξέλιξης του πεδίου της Εκπαίδευσης Ενηλίκων. Το κείμενο χωρίζεται σε τρεις βασικές ιστορικές φάσεις κατά τις οποίες αναλύονται τα βήματα και οι εξελικτικές εκπαιδευτικές διαδικασίες που προέκυψαν σε κάθε φάση. Η κάθε φάση τεκμηριώνεται με ιστορικά ντοκουμέντα στα οποία αναφέρονται οι εκπαιδευτικές εξελίξεις κατά την Αγγλοκρατία (1950-1960), την Ανεξαρτησία (1960-1974) και την Τουρκοκρατία (1974 μέχρι σήμερα). Στη συνέχεια, γίνεται συνδυασμός των πρωτογενών ερευνητικών δεδομένων και της βιβλιογραφίας που σχετίζεται με την ιστορία της Κύπρου. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, τα πρωτογενή ερευνητικά δεδομένα αφορούν υλικό από το Κρατικό Αρχείο Κύπρου. Από την ιστορική αναδρομή αναδεικνύεται σαφής συσχέτιση ιστορικών εμπειριών και εκπαιδευτικών αλλαγών σχετικά με τον τρόπο που οι αλλαγές επηρέαζαν και επηρεάζουν τους ενήλικους της Κύπρου, και τέλος, τις σύγχρονες προκλήσεις που καλούνται να αντιμετωπίσουν οι αρμόδιοι για την εξέλιξη της Εκπαίδευσης Ενηλίκων του νησιού. This article aims to illustrate the history and evolution of Adult Education. It is divided into three main historical phases, in which the evolutionary educational processes that emerged in each phase are analyzed. Each phase is linked with historical documents related to the educational revolution during the English Occupation (1950-1960), Independence (1960-1974), and Turkish Occupation (1974-to date). The primary research data are then related to the history of Cyprus literature. This research data includes material from the Cyprus State Archive. The historical review reveals a clear correlation between historical experiences and educational changes regarding how these changes have affected and continue to affect adults in Cyprus. This includes the contemporary challenges that those responsible for developing Adult Education on the island have to face. (EN)
