Στο 1ο Κεφάλαιο, παρουσιάζεται η έννοια της έξυπνης πόλης, ο ορισμός της, σε ποιους τομείς δραστηριοποιείται μια έξυπνη πόλη, οι καινοτομίες και η χρήση νέων τεχνολογιών που βοηθούν σε μεγάλο βαθμό τις καινοτομίες. Επίσης γίνεται αναφορά για το λόγο δημιουργίας μια έξυπνης πόλης καθώς και για τους στόχους και τις προσεγγίσεις μιας έξυπνης πόλης. Στο 2ο Κεφάλαιο, η εργασία ασχολείται πιο συγκεκριμένα με τα Τρίκαλα και πιο συγκεκριμένα για την έξυπνη πόλη των Τρικάλων. Επιπλέον γίνεται εκτενή αναφορά στο νέο σύστημα τεχνολογίας e – Τρίκαλα. Στο 3ο Κεφάλαιο, η παρούσα εργασία έχει να κάνει με μελέτη περίπτωσης της πόλης των Τρικάλων που ανήκει στον κλάδο των έξυπνων πόλεων και με την παρουσίαση ενός ερωτηματολογίου, μαζί με τις απαντήσεις που δοθήκαν, από κατοίκους και όχι μόνο της ευρύτερης περιοχής των Τρικάλων.",
