Η ολοκληρωμένη διαχείριση καλλιεργειών είναι ένας τρόπος  γεωργικής παραγωγής που ανταποκρίνεται στις απαιτήσεις ασφαλών, φρέσκων, οικονομικά εφικτών, δίχως ελαττώματα από έντομα και ασθένειες προϊόντων με κύριο στόχο τη μείωση των φυτοπροστατευτικών προϊόντων και την ασφάλεια του περιβάλλοντος. Η ολοκληρωμένη διαχείριση στον πρωτογενή τομέα εφαρμόζεται από δυο συστήματα ποιότητας στην Ελλάδα το πρωτόκολλο EUREPGAP και το πρότυπο AGRO. \nΑνάμεσα στα προϊόντα στα εφαρμόζεται το EUREPGAP στην Ελλάδα είναι και το κρεμμύδι. Το κρεμμύδι είναι λαχανικό αλλά και μπαχαρικό, είναι φυτό ποώδες το οποίο απαιτεί για τη συμπλήρωση του βιολογικού του κύκλου (από σπόρο σε σπόρο) δύο ή τρία χρόνια. Το σύστημα ολοκληρωμένης διαχείρισης EUREPGAP που εφαρμόζεται στο κρεμμύδι αποτελείται από: \n1)Το εγχειρίδιο: Περιγράφει συνοπτικά όλο το σύστημα ολοκληρωμένης διαχείρισης καθώς και την παρουσίαση της πολιτικής που διέπει την εκμετάλλευση του κρεμμυδιού. \n2)Οι διαδικασίες περιέχουν μια σαφή περιγραφή των διάφορων λειτουργιών της εκμετάλλευσης σύμφωνα με τις απαιτήσεις του ολοκληρωμένου συστήματος διαχείρισης που εφαρμόζεται. Η πρώτη έκδοση τους ετοιμάζονται από τον σύμβουλο ποιότητας, ελέγχονται από τον επιβλέποντα και τον επικεφαλή.",
