    "description" : "Οι Πολυκυκλικοί Αρωματικοί Υδρογονάνθρακες (ΠΑΥ) αποτελούν\nσυστατικά του οργανικού κλάσματος των αιωρούμενων σωματιδίων της ατμόσφαιρας και συγκεντρώνουν το ενδιαφέρον των ερευνητών εξαιτίας της καρκινογόνου και μεταλλαξιογόνου δράσης τους. Οι ΠΑΥ εκπέμπονται κατά τη διάρκεια ατελών καύσεων και οι κυριότερες πηγές τους στην ατμόσφαιρα είναι\nοι εξατμίσεις των οχημάτων, η οικιακή θέρμανση, οι βιομηχανικές δραστηριότητες, η καύση απορριμμάτων και γενικότερα οι εγκαταστάσεις όπου καίγονται καύσιμα με σκοπό την παραγωγή ενέργειας. \nΟι συγκεντρώσεις των ΠΑΥ στην ατμόσφαιρα είναι της τάξης των ng.m-3. Οι μεγαλύτερου M.B. (σχετική μοριακή μάζα) ΠΑΥ (με περισσότερους από 3 δακτυλίους) ενσωματώνονται γρήγορα στα υπάρχοντα αιωρούμενα σωματίδια. Οι ΠΑΥ συναντώνται κυρίως στα μικρά εισπνεύσιμα σωματίδια, τα οποία μπορούν να εισέλθουν στο αναπνευστικό σύστημα με αποτέλεσμα την\nαύξηση του κινδύνου για την ανθρώπινη υγεία. Υπάρχει όμως και ένα σημαντικό κλάσμα των ελαφρύτερων και πιο πτητικών ΠΑΥ που παραμένουν στην αέρια φάση.",
