Ακολούθως, στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο περιγράφονται οι περιγεννητικές και μεταγεννητικές διαταραχές κατά την προσκόλληση, ενώ το τέταρτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται περιγραφή στις ανάγκες και τα οφέλη των νεογνών για την ανάπτυξη του συναισθηματικού δεσμού μητέρας με νεογνό. Τέλος, αναφέρεται στον ρόλο της πατρότητας και την συμβολή της μαίας.",
