    "description" : "Η έρευνα τα τελευταία χρόνια απέδειξε ότι οι γαιοσκώληκες είναι μια τρομακτική μηχανή για την επεξεργασία διαφόρων άχρηστων μέχρι τώρα υποπροϊόντων και αποβλήτων για την αξιοποίηση τους υπό μορφή λιπασμάτων. Είναι ακόμη μια αξιόλογη πηγή πρωτεΐνης για την διατροφή των ζώων, ιδιαίτερα στους τομείς της πτηνοτροφίας και της ιχθυοκαλλιέργειας. \nΈτσι  η επιτακτική ανάγκη που παρουσιάζεται στις μέρες μας για όσο το δυνατών καλλίτερη αντιμετώπιση της υποβάθμισης του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος από διάφορα υποπροϊόντα, λύματα και απόβλητα, άχρηστα μέχρι τώρα και αιτίες μολύνσεως του περιβάλλοντος τις περισσότερες φορές οδήγησε σε μια εντατική προσπάθεια εκμετάλλευσης αυτής της «ζωικής  μηχανής» καθαρισμού των αποβλήτων και παραγωγής πρωτεϊνών. \nΗ εκτροφή των γαιοσκωλήκων πέρα από την επίλυση προβλημάτων που σχετίζονται με τον χειρισμό των αποβλήτων, μπορεί να συμβάλει και στην παραγωγή φτηνών ζωοκομικών προϊόντων που εξαιτίας της υπερβολικής αυξήσεως του κόστους των ζωοτροφών, κινδυνεύουν να ξαναγίνουν είδη πολυτελείας όπως ήταν πριν μερικά χρόνια.",
