    "description" : "Η πτυχιακή αυτή εργασία αφορά την φυτοπροστασία της πατάτας στο Δήμο Βουπρασίας, του Νομού Ηλείας. Το επιστημονικό όνομα της πατάτας είναι Solanum tuberosum και ανήκει στην οικογένεια Solanaceaeμε καταγωγή από το Περού. Η πατάτα είναι ετήσιο, ποώδες φυτό ύψους 50 – 80 cm, ανάλογα με τις συνθήκες του περιβάλλοντος. Στο υπόγειο τμήμα του σχηματίζονται εδώδιμοι  κόνδυλοι, στους οποίους αποταμιεύονται  οι αποθησαυριστικές  ουσίες του φυτού (κυρίως άμυλο και μικρές ποσότητες ζαχάρου και πρωτεϊνών).\nΕίναι είδος τετραπλοειδές και φέρει 48 χρωμοσώματα. Έχει άνθη πενταμερή, ερμαφρόδιτα, συνήθως αυτογονιμοποιούμενα που φέρονται σε ταξιανθίες. Ο καρπός της πατάτας είναι ράγα.  Υπάρχουν επίσης ποικιλίες πατάτας που καλλιεργούνται ευρύτατα και αποτελούν για τις εύκρατες περιοχές της γης το πολυτιμότερο, μετά την τομάτα, γεωργικό προϊόν, από θρεπτική, κτηνοτροφική και βιομηχανική άποψη. Εκτός από τις ποσότητες πατάτας που καταναλίσκονται για τη διατροφή του ανθρώπου, μεγάλα ποσά χρησιμοποιούνται στην κτηνοτροφία. Εξάλλου η πατάτα αποτελεί μία από τις σημαντικότερες πρώτες ύλες για την παραλαβή προϊόντων απόσταξης και κύρια αιθυλικής αλκοόλης και σειρών άλλων βιομηχανικών υλικών, που χρησιμοποιούνται ιδίως στην αρωματοποιεία και την κατασκευή καλλυντικών.",
