Αυτή η παρέμβαση, ιδιαίτερα στον τομέα της γεωργίας αποτελεί αυτό  που ονομάζουμε Αγροτική Πολιτική.
Η Αγροτική Πολιτική εξετάζει τις αρχές, τους στόχους και τα μέτρα της Πολιτικής στο γεωργικό τομέα όπως επίσης και τις συνέπειες αλλά και τις διαθρωτικές κινήσεις. Η Αγροτική Πολιτική βασίζεται κυρίως στη Γεωργική Οικονομική αλλά και την Εφαρμοσμένη Κοινωνική Οικονομική. Η Κοινή Αγροτική Πολιτική αποτελεί την πιο ολοκληρωμένη πολιτική που καθιερώθηκε στον Ευρωπαϊκό χώρο. Η Αγροτική Πολιτική έχει ως στόχο την επίτευξη αναπτυξιακών σκοπών σε κάθε κράτος. Μερικοί από τους στόχους αυτούς έχουν ως εξής :
- Αύξηση εθνικού εισοδήματος
- Κατανομή εθνικών πόρων
- Κοινωνική ισορροπία και ευημερία
Τέλος αξίζει να αναφέρουμε ότι συχνά χρησιμοποιείται ο όρος «Αγροτική» Πολιτική και Κοινή «Αγροτική» Πολιτική (Κ.Α.Π.), ενώ σε διάφορα άλλα κείμενα συναντάται ο όρος «Γεωργική». Πιο συνήθης είναι ο όρος «Αγροτική» διότι :
- Εχει χρησιμοποιηθεί από διακεκριμένους επιστήμονες της Γεωπονικής (π.χ. Ευελπίδης   κ.α.)
