Στην συνέχεια αναφερονται οι διάφορες εκδόσεις του 802.11 όπως είναι τα ευρέως διαδομένα 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g αλλά και τα λιγότερο γνωστά 802.11e, 802.11h  κτλ.,εκτενέστερη  αναφορά θα γίνει για τα πιθανά σφάλματα που υπάρχει κατά την εκπομπή δεδομένων (ανάκλαση-φαινόμενα ραδιομετάδοσης ,περίθλαση , παρεμβολές, θόρυβος ) Επίσης αναφερόμαστε στην διαχείριση των δικτύων 802.11. στην εξοικονόμηση ισχύος, το συγχρονισμό μετρητών και την ασφάλεια που μας παρέχει το 802.11. Στη συνέχεια αναφέρονται οι τοπολογίες ασύρματων και ενσύρματων δικτύων και τέλος τα κριτήρια επιλογής  και τις τεχνικές προδιαγραφές  που χρειάζονται για να τεθεί σε λειτουργία ένα ασύρματο τοπικό δίκτυο.",
