Τα\nσυμπεριλαμβανόμενα θέματα συμπληρώνουν εκείνα που καλύπτονται στην πρόσφατη αναθεώρηση\nαπό τον Chow που εστιάζει στις ρυθμιστικές μετρήσεις\nσυμμόρφωσης και τις μετρήσεις φίλτρων της μοριακής σύνθεσης. Αυτή η αναθεώρηση εστιάζει\nστις μετρήσεις των ακέραιων ιδιοτήτων αερολύματος, φυσικές και χημικές ιδιότητες του αερολύματος, στις μετρήσεις των\nδιανομών μεγέθους αερολύματος και στις μετρήσεις για την απόφαση του μεγέθους της σύνθεσης\nαερολύματος. Τα ατμοσφαιρικά αερολύματα περιλαμβάνουν συνήθως εκατοντάδες οργανικές ενώσεις και μονό\nένα μικρό μέρος (περίπου 10%) από αυτά μπορούν να προσδιοριστούν από τις αναλυτικές\nμεθοδολογίες κατάστασης προόδου. Ακόμα και η μέτρηση της συνολικής μοριακής οργανικής\nμαζικής συγκέντρωσης άνθρακα περιβάλλεται από δυσκολίες συμπεριλαμβανομένων της άγνωστης\nέκτασης των εξατμιστικών απωλειών κατά τη διάρκεια της δειγματοληψίας, της προσρόφησης των\nοργανικών ενώσεων στη φάση αερίου επάνω στα υποστρώματα δειγματοληψίας και της άγνωστηςσχέσης μεταξύ της μάζας άνθρακα και της μάζας των μοριακών οργανικών ουσιών. Η ανάπτυξη\nτων βελτιωμένων μεθοδολογιών για τέτοιες μετρήσεις πρέπει να είναι προτεραιότητα για το\nμέλλον. Τα φασματόμετρα μάζας που μετρούν τη σύνθεση των μεμονωμένων μορίων έχουν\nαναπτυχθεί πρόσφατα. Δεν είναι σαφές ότι αυτά τα όργανα θα παράσχουν τις ποσοτικές\nπληροφορίες για τις συγκεντρώσεις της μάζας των ειδών, και απαιτείται περισσότερη εργασία για\nνα ερμηνεύσει τις τεράστιες ποσότητες δεδομένων που παράγονται κατά τη διάρκεια της\nδειγματοληψίας πεδίου. Εντούτοις αυτά τα όργανα επεκτείνουν ουσιαστικά το εύρος των\nατμοσφαιρικών ζητημάτων αερολύματος που μπορούν να εξερευνηθούν πειραματικά. Αυτά τα\nόργανα αντιπροσωπεύουν τη σημαντικότερη πρόοδο στην ενοργάνοση αερολύματος τα τελευταία. Τα ατμοσφαιρικά μόρια αερολύματος κυμαίνονται στο μέγεθος περισσότερο από τέσσερα μεγέθη,από τις πρόσφατα πυρινοποιημένες συστάδες που περιέχουν λίγα μόρια μέχρι τα σταγονίδια των\nσύννεφων και τα κρυσταλλικά σωματίδια σκόνης που φτάνουν σε μέγεθος δεκάδες\nεκατομμυριοστά. Οι μέσες συνθέσεις μορίων ποικίλουν ανάλογα με το μέγεθος, το χρόνο, και τη\nθέση, και οι μαζικές συνθέσεις των μεμονωμένων μορίων ενός δεδομένου μεγέθους ποικίλουν.",
