Εξετάζεται ο προσδιορισμός «in forma a la latina» των αρχειακών πηγών του 15ου αιώνα σε συσχετισμό με το ενδιαφέρον των κρητικών ζωγράφων της εποχής για την παλαιότερη ιταλική τέχνη. Η διάδοση των ανατολικών εικόνων στη Δύση και το εκτεταμένο εμπόριο εικόνων επέτεινε την αναφορά σε παλαιότερα πρότυπα καθώς εναρμονιζόταν με το επιζητούμενο ύφος των εικόνων ιδιωτικής ευλάβειας. The term «in forma a la latina» found in 15th-century archival sources is examined in relation to the interest of contemporary Cretan painters in older Italian art. The diffusion of eastern icons to the West and extensive icon trading intensified the reference to earlier models since it conformed with the desired style of devotional images. (EN)
