Ο ζωγράφος Γεώργιος Νομικός με καταγωγή από την Κρήτη έζησε και έδρασε στο τελευταίο τέταρτο του 17ου και στις αρχές του 18ου αιώνα σε Κεφαλονιά, Ζάκυνθο, Άρτα και Ιωάννινα. Από τη σύντομη ιστορική αναδρομή που επιχειρείται γίνεται προσπάθεια να ενταχθεί το σύνολο του έργου του στο κοινωνικό-οικονομικό πλαίσιο της εποχής. Επιπρόσθετα, από την αναλυτική παρουσίαση έξι σωζόμενων έργα του, τέσσερις ενυπόγραφες και δύο αποδιδόμενες φορητές εικόνες, γίνονται ουσιαστικές παρατηρήσεις στην τέχνη και στα πρότυπα του ζωγράφου.

Georgios Nomikos. A Cretan Painter of the 17th centuryGeorgios Nomikos, who originated from the island of Crete, lived and worked in the last quarter of the 17th and in the beginning of the 18th century in the islands of Cephalonia and Zakynthos, and in the mainland of Arta and Ioannina. The brief historical overview that precedes means to affiliate the painter’s work with its social and economic context. Furthermore, the detailed analysis of six of his surviving portable icons, four signed and two attributed merit an array of observations concerning the painter’s artistic prototypes and style.
