      "@value" : "Acute liver failure (ALF) is characterized by severe and sudden\nliver cell dysfunction leading to coagulopathy and hepatic\nencephalopathy in previously healthy persons. A critical\ndegree of liver cell death not adequately decompensated\nby hepatocellular regenerative activity is fundamental to\nthe development of ALF. Interaction between two dominant\npathological pathways is illustrated as the triggering event:\napoptosis and necrosis. A correlation has been demonstrated\nbetween the etiology of ALF and the dominating pathological\npathway. Liver cell death signaling pathways modulated\nby an increasingly recognized number of tyrosine kinases,\nadapter molecules, transcription factors, proinflammatory\nand vasoactive cytokines and chemokines through both\nstimulating and depressant interactions have been demonstrated. What's more Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome whether or not precipitated by infection, appears to\nbe implicated in the progression of encephalopathy, reducing\nthe chances of transplantation and conferring a poorer\nprognosis. Hepatic encephalopathy and brain edema arising\nfrom exposure of the brain to circulating neurotoxins also\nsignifies a serious prognosis in ALF. \nKey words: Fulminant Hepatic Failure, Apoptosis, Necrosis,\nTumour Necrosis Factor, Systemic Inflammatory Response\nSyndrome, Caspases, Oxidative Stress, Hepatocellular Regeneration,\nHepatic Encephalopathy, Brain Edema."
