Οι παιδικές χαρές στην χώρα μας, δεν είναι μελετημένες κατάλληλα για την ασφάλεια, την εκπαίδευση και την κοινωνικοποίηση των παιδιών. Στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι να γίνει η αρχή και να θέσει κάποιες βασικές σχεδιαστικές προδιαγραφές για τις παιδικές χαρές, για όλα τα παιδιά ηλικίας 2-7 ετών. Επιλέχθηκε αυτή η ηλικία, γιατί τότε τα παιδιά αρχίζουν να κοινωνικοποιούνται και να μαθαίνουν παίζοντας, οπότε θεωρήθηκε πως παίζοντας μαζί με παιδιά με και χωρίς αναπηρία θα τους ευαισθητοποιήσει και θα μάθουν πως το κάθε παιδί είναι ξεχωριστό και ταυτόχρονα δεν διαφέρει το ένα από το άλλο. Πραγματοποιήθηκε βιβλιογραφική έρευνα, στους τομείς του παιδιού, του παιχνιδιού, της ψυχολογίας, των παιδικών χαρών κλπ., αλλά και παρατήρηση σε παιδικές χαρές, συνεντεύξεις σε γονείς/επιστήμονες κλπ. Κατέληξα σε κάποια συμπεράσματα τα οποία εφαρμόστηκαν σε μια παιδική χαρά ως concept. Βασική αρχή ήταν το κάθε παιχνίδι να αλληλοεπιδρά με το παιδί με αρκετούς τρόπους (ήχος, εικόνα, κλπ.) και να μπορεί να προσαρμοστεί στο καθένα από αυτά με στόχο την ανάπτυξη όλων των αισθήσεων, των κινήσεων και την κοινωνικοποίηση του. Όλοι οι εξοπλισμοί μελετήθηκαν ως προς την λειτουργικότητα τους, με βάση τις ανθρωπομετρικές διαστάσεις, τα υλικά κατασκευής τους κλπ. Με στόχο να είναι προσβάσιμοι για όλους. Για μια προσβάσιμη παιδική χαρά, δεν αρκεί μόνο ο κατάλληλος σχεδιασμός του εξοπλισμού, αλλά η σωστή χωροθέτηση όλων των εξοπλισμών, βοηθητικών εγκαταστάσεων κλπ. Σε συνδυασμό με τον γεωγραφικό και πολιτισμικό τόπο της παιδικής χαράς."
