In allergic reactions induced by drugs we detected elevated platelet activating factor (PAF) bioactivity in blood and we isolated a substance with activity and chemical characteristics similar to AGEPC (semisynthetic PAF, beef-heart derived PAF). The levels of the circulating substance were about ten times higher than the ones detected in normal subjects. (EN)
