This study concentrates on the dynamics of private teak plantations in the township of
Tori-Bossito, which is located in the department of the Atlantic in the south of Benin.
It aims at evaluating the dendrometric parameters and the silvicultural performances
of these private teak plantations according to the different stations or plant
communities, the ages and the number of sprouts per stump, and then to formulate
development and sustainable management strategies. To achieve these objectives, a
split plot with two factors (the age of stems and number of stems per stump) and of
three replicates was implanted in four plantations sampled on the most extensive plant
communities. Four treatments of many releases were retained and 72 circular plots
were installed on the whole. The results show that on the three plant communities
studied, the phytocénoses Dichapetalum madagascariense and Cnestis ferruginea is
the most productive. In addition, the performances of private teak forestry plantation
decrease according to age. Finally, private teak plantations treated in copse with two
sprouts per stump are more productive and can be recommended to growers.

La présente étude s’est intéressée à la dynamique des plantations privées de teck dans
la commune de Tori-Bossito dans le département de l’Atlantique au sud du Bénin.
Elle a pour objectifs d’évaluer les paramètres dendrométriques et les performances
sylvicoles des teckeraies privées en fonction des phytocénoses, des âges et du nombre
de rejets par souche, puis d’en formuler des stratégies d’aménagement et de gestion
durable. Pour atteindre ces objectifs, un dispositif split plot à deux facteurs (l’âge des
tiges et nombre de tiges par souche) et à trois répétitions a été implanté dans quatre
plantations échantillonnées sur les phytocénoses les plus étendues. Quatre traitements
de nombre de rejets sont retenus et 72 placettes de forme circulaire ont été installées
au total. Les résultats obtenus montrent que sur les trois phytocénoses étudiées, celle à
Dichapetalum madagascariense et Cnestis ferruginea est la plus productive. De plus,
les performances sylvicoles des plantations privées de teck diminue en fonction de
l’âge. Enfin, les plantations privées de teck traitées en taillis à deux rejets par souche
sont plus productives et peuvent être recommandées aux planteurs.
