Over the past years Greek e conomy has been in the epicenter of the global markets ’ attention and most of the debates have been done over its competitiveness which was generally considered as one the main reason s for the country’s problems. This Business Project examines the performance and the competitiveness of the Greek e conomy and the effect it had on the exports of goods and services after the country joined the M one tary U nion, and the consequences of the Eurozone crisis to the e x- ports in the new environment formed. As a result there are two milestones that will be set in the following work, first the introductio n to the common currency in 2001 and the second the start of the Eurozone crisis in 2008 . This dissertation has two main goals. Firs t to argue whether the common cu r- rency increased the competitiveness of Greek products and services in the Eurozone countries , as it was planned, and if that led to the increase of the Greek exports. S e- cond, if the Eurozone crisis led the G reek e conomy and companies to a more export oriented direction, and if the new formed political and economic environment in Greece actually led to increase of the exports . Lastly suggestions will be made based on conclusions from data, questionnaire and research regarding the potentials of the Greek economy and particularly for sectors that are or could become export oriented. The Business Proposal will be based on two pillars which are raw statistic data from official institutions that will be analyzed and a resear ch that is based on, inte r- views with entrepreneurs, various professional chamber representatives, local author i- ties and mainly on a questionnaire presented to Greek export companies. We will a t- tempt to combine the official statistical data with the opinions and a nswers gathered . (EN)
