Στη συνέχεια του κεφαλαίου παρουσιάζονται ιστορικά και επίκαιρα δεδομένα σχετικά με τη σηροτροφία στην Ελλάδα και αναφέρονται τα προβλήματα που υπάρχουν και τα οποία εμποδίζουν την περαιτέρω ανάπτυξη του κλάδου τόσο σε ελληνικό όσο και σε ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο. Στο κεφάλαιο αυτό δίνεται έμφαση στο στάδιο μετάβασης, από μια αγροτική ενασχόληση σε μια αγρο-βιοτεχνολογική ενασχόληση, στο οποίο βρίσκεται επί του παρόντος η σηροτροφία σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο.In Chapter 1 of this book, the reader is presented with a brief overview of the evolution of sericulture as an agricultural activity and then the current situation of sericulture is described at a world-wide level. In the following sections of this chapter, historical and current data are presented on the status of sericulture in Greece and the problems and difficulties that hinder the growth of this sector, at a national and European level, are extensively described.
