Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζονται οι στόχοι του βιβλίου και οι σχέσεις που αναπτύσσονται ανάμεσα στη θεματολογία των κεφαλαίων. Σχολιάζονται περιληπτικά τα θέματα και το γενικό ιστορικό πλαίσιο στο οποίο εγγράφεται η ευρεία θεματολογία και καθορίζονται οι άξονες σύγκλισης ώστε ο αναγνώστης να κατανοήσει την ιδιαίτερη σημασία των επιλογών. The first chapter presents the goals of the book and the relationships that develop between the themes of the chapters. The themes and the general historical context in which the broad topics are inscribed are briefly commented on, and the axes of convergence are determined so that the reader understands the special significance of the selections.
