Το κεφάλαιο μελετά μητροπόλεις της Ευρώπης μέσω σημαντικών λογοτεχνικών κειμένων των αρχών του 20ού αιώνα. Τα επιλεγμένα κείμενα καταγράφουν μέσω μιας φαινομενολογικής ματιάς χαρακτηριστικά, ατμόσφαιρες και συμβάντα του δημόσιου χώρου. Οι πόλεις δεν είναι απλώς ένα φόντο πάνω στο οποίο εξελίσσεται η πλοκή, αλλά σημαντικοί χαρακτήρες που με την παρουσία τους επηρεάζουν τις αποφάσεις και τις κινήσεις των ηρώων. (EL)
The chapter studies European metropolises through important literary texts of the early 20th century. The selected texts document through a phenomenological perspective characteristics, atmospheres, and events of the public space. Cities are not just a background against which the plot develops, but important characters whose presence influences the decisions and movements of the heroes. (EN)
