Στην Κύπρο αρκετά είναι τα είδη που\nπροσβάλουν σημαντικές καλλιέργειες και προκαλούν σημαντικές απώλειες στην παραγωγή.\nΗ παρούσα μελέτη αποσκοπεί σε πρώτο στάδιο στη γενική περιγραφή των τζιτζικακιών που\nανήκουν στη οικογένεια Cicadellidae και στην παρουσίαση της βιολογίας, των ζημιών που\nπροκαλούν και των μεθόδων αντιμετώπισής τους. Το δεύτερο κομμάτι της μελέτης\nαποσκοπεί στη μοριακή ταυτοποίηση των τζιτζικακιών που μαζεύτηκαν από διάφορα\nαγροτικά τεμάχια στην Κύπρο. Το τρίτο και τελευταίο σκέλος της μελέτης αναφέρεται στην\nπεριγραφή πέντε κύριων ειδών τζιτζικακιών που υπάρχουν στην Κύπρο και αποτελούν\nσήμερα αναδυόμενους εχθρούς καλλιεργειών. Τα Empoasca decipiens, το Asymmetrasca\ndecedens, το Jacobiasca lybica, το Empoasca vitis και Zygina rhamni είναι τα είδη που\nπεριγράφονται τόσο για την βιολογία τους όσο για την διαχείρισή τους. Για πολλά είδη δεν\nυπάρχουν εγγεγραμμένα φυτοπροστατευτικά προϊόντα για την αντιμετώπισή τους σε πολλές\nκαλλιέργειες. Σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις φαίνεται ότι υπάρχουν αρκετοί φυσικοί εχθροί που\nκρατούν σε χαμηλά επίπεδα τους πληθυσμούς των τζιτζικακιών, όπως συμβαίνει σε\nαμπελώνες με το Z. rhamni. Η σημαντική ποιοτική και ποσοτική ζημιά που προκαλούν τα\nτζιτζικάκια σε εσπεριδοειδή, λουβί, αμπέλι και άλλες καλλιέργειες αποτελούν σημαντικό\nλόγο για την περεταίρω διερεύνηση της βιολογίας και αντιμετώπισης τους.", "Completed", "Leafhoppers are insects that are classified in the Cicadellidae family, within the Hemiptera\norder. Today many of them constitute serious pests of cultivated crops, and are also vectors\nof plant viruses worldwide. In Cyprus many different species of these insects affect several\nimportant crops and cause significant production losses. The first part of this study describes\nthe biology of leafhoppers, the damage they cause and their management. The second part of\nthe study aims at identifying the leafhoppers gathered from various agricultural crops in\nCyprus. The third and last part of the study describes the morphology, biology and\nmanagement of five key species of leafhoppers present in Cyprus that constitute emerging\ncrop pests: Empoasca decipiens, Asymmetrasca decedens, Jacobiasca lybica, Empoasca vitis\nand Zygina rhamni. For many species of leafhoppers, there is a lack of registered pesticide\nproducts for their control. Natural enemies seem to be important regulators of leafhopper\npopulations in some crops, as is the case with Z. rhamni in vineyards.
