Η χρήση των ψηφιακών μέσων για την ταχεία διάδοση και ανταλλαγή της γνώσης και της πληροφορίας στον σύγχρονο κόσμο έφερε στο προσκήνιο μια σειρά φιλοσοφικών ερωτημάτων, τα οποία αφορούν στην αναπαράσταση και στην αναφορά της γνώσης. Η αρχική υποτίμηση αυτών των ερωτημάτων στον χώρο της επιστήμης των υπολογιστών οδήγησε σε πρακτικά και θεωρητικά αδιέξοδα, τα οποία επιχειρήθηκε να ξεπεραστούν μέσω της συγκρότησης «οντολογιών». Παρά τις αξιόλογες ερευνητικές προσπάθειες σε αυτό το πεδίο, ο αρχικός στόχος των οντολογιών, η ενοποίηση των συστημάτων αναπαράστασης της γνώσης, δεν έχει επιτευχθεί μέχρι τώρα. Στο παρόν άρθρο θεωρείται ότι η υπόδειξη των φιλοσοφικών θεμελίων των τυπικών οντολογιών μπορεί να συμβάλει αποφασιστικά στην αντιμετώπιση των δυσκολιών που συναντούν οι ερευνητές και επιστήμονες των τυπικών οντολογιών. Η αναζήτηση αυτών των θεμελίων στον Χούσερλ των Λογικών Ερευνών, από τον οποίο οι τυπικές οντολογίες δανείζονται την ονομασία τους, και η ερμηνεία των θέσεών του υπό ένα ρεαλιστικό πρίσμα φέρνουν στην επιφάνεια ομοιότητες και κοινούς προβληματισμούς ανάμεσα στις οντολογίες, τον Χούσερλ και τον επιστημονικό ρεαλισμό. Η σύγκλιση αυτή θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει τη βάση για μια γόνιμη και δημιουργική συνεργασία στο ερευνητικό πεδίο της διερεύνησης των φιλοσοφικών προϋποθέσεων της τυπικής οντολογίας. (EL)
The use of digital media for the rapid dissemination and exchange of knowledge and information in the contemporary world brought to the fore a series of philosophical questions pertaining to the representation and the reference of knowledge. The initial underestimation of such questions within the field of computer science led to a practical and theoretical impasse. In an effort to overcome this impasse, “formal ontologies” were introduced. However, despite significant efforts in this field, formal ontologies’ initial aim to facilitate the unification of knowledge representation systems has not been achieved so far. This paper suggests that the investigation of the philosophical foundations of formal ontologies can substantially contribute to the resolution of the difficulties researchers and scientists of this field are confronted with. The elaboration of their fundaments in Husserl’s Logical Investigations, from which they borrow their name, and their interpretation from a realist point of view reveal similarities and common problems between formal ontologies, Husserl and scientific realism. This convergence can form the basis for a fruitful and creative cooperation in the research field of investigating the philosophical presuppositions of formal ontologies. (EN)
