Karydaki, DanaeΚατά τη διάρκεια της εθνικής ανασυγκρότησης που ακολούθησε τον ελληνικό Εμφύλιο, η πλευρά των νικητών, και ειδικά το κράτος των εθνικοφρόνων και το βασιλικό ζεύγος του Παύλου και της Φρειδερίκης, χρησιμοποίησε την πρόνοια υπέρ των παιδιών και των ανθρώπων με σωματικές, νοητικές και ψυχικές αναπηρίες ως μέσο για την επικράτηση της ιδεολογίας της εθνικοφροσύνης. Λόγω των πρώην στρατιωτικών εγκαταστάσεων των Ιταλών, τρεις εφαρμογές της πρόνοιας εμφανίστηκαν μετεμφυλιακά στο νησί της Λέρου: οι Βασιλικές Σχολές (1949-1964), το ψυχιατρείο (1957) και το πρώτο άσυλο του ΠΙΚΠΑ για «ανίατα παιδιά» (1961). Μελετώντας αρχειακό υλικό των ιδρυμάτων αυτών, τη σχετική νομοθεσία, τον αθηναϊκό και τοπικό Τύπο της εποχής αλλά και προφορικές μαρτυρίες το παρόν άρθρο χαρτογραφεί τους τρόπους με τους οποίους οι ψυ-επιστημονικοί λόγοι και οι λόγοι περί πρόνοιας διαπλέκονται με την εθνικόφρονα ιδεολογία στην περίπτωση των ιδρυμάτων της Λέρου.During the period of national reconstruction that followed the Greek Civil War, the victorious side, and especially the state of the “nation-minded” and the royal couple of Paul and Federica, employed the welfare policy for the children and people with physical, intellectual, and mental disabilities as a means towards the domination of the ideology of “nation-mindedness”. Due to the former Italian military infrastructure, three applications of welfare policy emerged on the island of Leros: the Royal Schools (1949-1964), the mental hospital (1957) and the first PIKPA asylum for “incurable children” (1961).
