The tensile behaviour of phosphate-coated aluminium (EN)

The tensile behaviour of the phosphate-coated aluminium was studied in the coating thickness range 0.1-1.45 microm. The ultimate tensile strength and the yield strength of the coated aluminium were found to increase whereas the fracture strain of the coated aluminium was found to decrease with increasing coating thickness for a constant applied strain rate. In the strain rate range 0.025-0.125 s-1, the ultimate tensile strength, the yield strength and the fracture strain of the phosphate-coated aluminium were observed to increase with increasing applied strain rate for a constant coating thickness. © 1992.
