This paper identifies some areas in the inventory control of slow-moving engineering spares where the involvement of the technology of Expert Systems seems promising. Based on these findings an ''intelligent'' Decision System is described, aiming at the inventory management of these items . The analysis is restricted to slow-moving parts held in stock for the provision of services to outside customers. (EN)
