A study on the dependence of alumina pore structure on the conditions of the precursor precipitation is presented. Seeding, starting materials and precipitation temperature greatly affect the textural properties of the produced aluminas. Total specific pore volume may vary from 0.24 to 1.87 cm3/g, specific surface area from 126 to 285 m2/g while unimodal or bimodal structures can be produced. Mean micropore radii of up to 9.9 nm have been achieved by following a two stage seeding-precipitation route. Aluminas with various structural properties can be produced by well defined procedures. © 1993. (EN)
