Στο άρθρο αντό γίνεται μια επισκόπηση της ιστορίας τον παιδικού κινηματογράφου από τα τέλη τον 19ου αιώνα μέχρι σήμερα. Επισημαίνονται οι σημαντικές περίοδοι της ιστορίας τον παιδικού κινηματογράφου, οι ταινίες και τα παιδιά σταρ. Γίνεται, επίσης, ανάλυση μιας σειράς θεμάτων που αναδύθηκαν τα τελενταία εκατό περίπου χρόνια στο πλαίσιο του παιδικού κινηματογράφου, όπως το πρόσφατο κύμα πολυπολιτισμικών παιδικών ταινιών οι οποίες, σε συνδυασμό με πολλά σύγχρονα έργα παιδικής λογοτεχνίας, λειτουργούν ως όχημα κοινωνικής αλλαγής. This article presents an overview of the history of children's cinema and film from the late 19th century to the present day. The article highlights the important film periods in children's film history, the films themselves, and their child stars. It also includes a discussion of a number of issues that have surfaced over the last hundred years or so in children's films, including the recent wave of multicultural children's films, along with many contemporary works of children's literature, as a vehicle for driving home social change.
